Monday's Mini-Report, 3.25.19

Today's edition of quick hits.

Today's edition of quick hits:

* Mali attack: "More than 130 people were killed in an attack on a village in central Mali on Saturday by armed men wearing traditional Dogon hunters' clothing.... The attack took place while UN ambassadors were in Mali to discuss increased violence."

* The video of this helped capture the enormous size of the crowd: "Anti-Brexit protesters flooded into central London by the hundreds of thousands, demanding that Britain's Conservative-led government hold a new referendum on whether Britain should leave the European Union."

* The latest tragedy: "A student from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School has died in what police are calling an apparent suicide, officials said on Sunday. The student's age, sex and name have not been released but Coral Springs Police Department Public Information Officer Tyler Reik said the deceased was a juvenile and a current student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School."

* And another: "The father of a Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre victim was found dead in Newtown, Connecticut, on Monday in what police are calling an apparent suicide."

* FEMA: "The Federal Emergency Management Agency unnecessarily shared sensitive personal data of more than two million disaster victims with a contractor, subjecting that information to potential identity theft and fraud, a government memo released on Friday said."

* The latest departure: "Clete Willems, a senior White House trade official who has been actively involved in U.S. trade talks with China, is leaving the Trump administration. Willems, deputy director of the National Economic Council, has played a key advisory role on trade since the start of the administration."

* Mexico: "Trump is expected to nominate D.C. attorney Christopher Landau as the next ambassador to Mexico. While an accomplished lawyer, Landau's credentials for the Mexico assignment are virtually nonexistent."

* Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) wrote an op-ed defending the late Sen. John McCain in the wake of Trump's attacks. Kinzinger somehow managed to omit the president's name from his piece.

* SPLC upheaval continues: "The head of the Southern Poverty Law Center on Friday announced that he is stepping down, the latest high-profile departure from the watchdog organization best known for its work monitoring extremist groups."
