‘The President Has Been Shot!’
November 22 marks the 40th anniversary of one of the nation’s most shocking events.
This cartoon uses irony to criticize the president. When you see the phrase “paid the ultimate price,” what do you think of? What is ironic about Bush’s statement in the second frame? Try inventing your own cartoon about political fund-raising, using a pun to make your point: Have your cartoon use “razor” or “raze-er,” (an invented word, meaning someone who knocks down) instead of raiser.
