Wildwood Elementary raises money for K.I.N.D.

Students in Los Angeles got together to help raise money for Kids In Need of Desks, MSNBC’s joint program with UNICEF, providing desks to kids in Malawi.

MSNBC's Lawrence O’Donnell and UNICEF teamed up to provide school desks to children in Malawi through the groundbreaking project, K.I.N.D., Kids in Need of Desks. Since its launch in 2010, the program has raised more than $5.7 million. That happened because of the generous support of Last Word viewers, including the show’s youngest fans.

Kindergarten and first grade students at the Wildwood Elementary school in Los Angeles recently got together to help raise money for fellow students their own age. Over the course of a three-week service project, kids at Wildwood brought in $1,545.37– enough to buy 23 desks, lifting at least 46 students off the dirt floor.
