A gunman killed four Marines on Thursday in attacks on two military facilities in Chattanooga, Tennessee. On the same day, James Holmes, who killed 12 people in a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, three years ago, was found guilty of first degree murder and could now face the death penalty.

This week, a historic deal was reached between the United States, other world powers and Iran limiting Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. The Greek Parliament passed an austerity vote despite dissent, triggering riots in Athens afterward.

In addition, Pope Francis wrapped up his tour through South America, and athletes competed in the Pan Am Games in Toronto, Canada, and in the Tour de France.
