Events in Ferguson calmed this week, as the body of Michael Brown, the 18-year-old who was shot by Ferguson police officer, Darren Wilson, was put to rest.

In West Africa, the Ebola virus continued to claim victims as health officials struggled to contain the growing outbreak that has already claimed more than 1,500 lives. Tensions escalated again between Russia and Ukraine as Ukraine’s president, Petro O. Poroshenko, claimed that Russia was invading from the southeast.

In China, the youth Olympics continued into this week, and the US Open kicked off at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York.
