More than 60 years after 14-year-old Emmett Till was kidnapped, tortured and killed in Mississippi, the Justice Department says it is reopening the case. Timothy Tyson, author of “The Blood of Emmett Till” and John Jay College associate professor Gloria Browne-Marshall tells MSNBC’s Frances Rivera they are very suspicious of the timing by Trump officials. The announcement comes as children of color are separated from their parents at the U.S./Mexico border and as voting rights are being rolled back. Tyson’s book may have contributed to the reopening of the case after a key witness in the Till case admitted she lied to officials.July 14, 2018
