Vice President Joe Biden’s son, Beau Biden, has been hospitalized at Walter Reed Medical Center, sources close him said Tuesday.

The 46-year-old Biden is the former attorney general of Delaware and served one year in Iraq — from 2008 to 2009 — with the Delaware National Guard.

He has had medical issues in recent years, including a mild stroke in 2010, and surgery in August of 2013 to remove what doctors described as a small brain lesion.

Last year, Biden declined to seek a third term as attorney general and said he had been given a clean bill of health and planned to run for governor in 2016.

Sources close to Biden say he has had continuing treatment and monitoring since his surgery.
