TV preacher Robertson sees GOP as too extreme

When even TV preacher Pat Robertson thinks the Republican Party is too extreme, the GOP has problem.

Radical TV preacher Pat Robertson is not known for his moderation. He is, after all, the televangelist who blamed 9/11 on Americans, thinks gay people can cause meteor showers, and inspired an entire Wikipedia page listing the controversies springing from his over-the-top tirades.

And even he thinks congressional Republicans are a little too extreme right now.

For those who can't watch clips online, Right Wing Watch uncovered this gem from yesterday's "700 Club." Robertson told his viewers:

"The Republicans have got to wave the white flag and say, ‘We fought a good fight and now it’s over. They cannot shut the government down and then bring about a default. We can’t do it. I mean, it would be devastating economically to every human being and the Republicans just can’t get tarred with that."

Congratulations, House GOP lawmakers. You've helped position a radical TV preacher as a voice of reason in conservatitve politics.
