The top 5 stories you need to know this morning

Just catching up on your news this Monday morning? Here are the top stories you need to know: 

1. Massive wildfires on the West Coast have become so dangerous that they’ve triggered evacuations in Oregon and California. The fires were triggered on Friday by lightning strikes and have since spread across 50 square miles in central Oregon and 137 square miles in Eastern Oregon. In California, there have been over 19 fires across the state.

2. Donald Trump released his immigration reform plan on Sunday, telling “Meet The Press” host Chuck Todd that undocumented immigrants “have to go.” Trump laid out a detailed plan that includes building a border wall, enforcing laws, and ensuring improved jobs, wages and security. 

3. In other Trump news, the business mogul is expected to report for jury duty this morning in Manhattan. A spokesperson said he would take a break from the campaign trail to answer the jury summons. 

4. Actor Morgan Freeman’s step-granddaughter was found stabbed to death early on Sunday in Manhattan. Lamar Davenport, 30, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of E’Dena Hines, 33. Freeman released a statement mourning the loss of Hines, who was his step-granddaughter. 

5. “Straight Outta Compton” scored big at the box office over the weekend, grossing over $24.3 million in its Friday opening.
