Residents fleeing fighting as civil war continues in Syria are amassing in nearby countries, including Jordan and Turkey.
After fighting arrived in the Northern Syrian city of Aleppo about two weeks ago, refugees headed for the closest border, which it shares with Turkey. About 48,000 Syrians are now refugees in Turkey, the Associated Press reported.
More than 130,000 Syrians are now refugees in nearby Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey, the United Nations refugee agency reported Friday. Turkey is host to the most Syrian refugees, followed by Jordan.
