Super Bowl 2015: Patriots defeat Seahawks
In an athletic showdown for the ages, the New England Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks 28-24 to win Super Bowl XLIX.
Despite months of bad publicity for the league’s historically poor handling of domestic violence and a scandal over the alleged under-inflating of footballs (commonly known as “Deflate-Gate”), which has cast a shadow over New England Patriots versus Seattle Seahawks match-up, the NFL didn’t appear to lose its luster with the general public. More than a hundred million people were expected to watch the game.
Four touchdown passes made by Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, along with an interception in the end zone with under 30 seconds left in the game, pushed the team into victory territory. The headline on The Boston Globe’s Monday morning paper read “Return to Glory,” boasting the Lombardi Trophy. On the cover of the Boston Herald, the headline screamed “Super Pumped!” in all caps.
