Schwarzenegger dines with the Bushes in Houston

He’s back …

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former Republican governor of California and Austrian-born Hollywood icon, recently dined with the Bushes while visiting them in Houston.

Schwarzenegger celebrated the national holiday by having lunch with former President George H.W. Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush.

“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate President’s Day weekend than having lunch with one of my favorite presidents, my dear friend (and former boss), President George H. W. Bush, and his wonderful wife Barbara — one of my favorite first ladies. Both of them continue to inspire me to this day with their great public service,” the “Terminator” star wrote in a post to his Instagram account.

Jim McGrath, spokesman and speechwriter for the 41st president of the United States, confirmed the meeting in a tweet on Tuesday.

Schwarzenegger made headlines last week when he called climate change “the issue of our time” at a security conference. He called on governments to act independently to combat global warming. He also said that addressing shared environmental threats should not be a political issue.

The actor-turned-politician’s first foray into electoral politics was his victorious run for California governor in the chaotic recall election of 2003. He previously has served in the largely ceremonial role of chairman of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports under Bush.

Bush, 90, was admitted to Houston Methodist Hospital in December after suffering from shortness of breath. Previously, he spent nearly two months at the same hospital in January 2013 for a bronchitis-related cough and other health issues. Last June, he went skydiving for the eighth time to celebrate his birthday milestone.
