The first U.S. Supreme Court justice to officiate at a same-sex wedding wasn't content to stop at that. Traveling through Vietnam this month, Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg took time to renew the vows of U.S. ambassador Ted Osius and his husband Clayton Bond.

The couple's baby son was also present, as were young Vietnamese LGBT activists, Osius told the Washington Blade, which first reported on the ceremony. Ginsburg also visited South Korea, where UPI reported she met with the country's chief justice, Yang Seung-tae, "to discuss human rights and the rights of sexual minorities."

Ginsburg didn't write the opinion that struck down same-sex marriage bans last June, but her fingerprints — including the women's rights cases she litigated in the 1970s — were all over it. She is known to have performed at least four weddings for same-sex couples since the Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act in 2013. Of her decision to perform the first same-sex marriage, Ginsburg said: “I think it will be one more statement that people who love each other and want to live together should be able to enjoy the blessings and the strife in the marriage relationship.”
