Republicans prepare a shutdown counteroffer

House Republicans plan to vote Tuesday evening.
House Republicans will counter a Senate proposal to reopen the government and raise the debt ceiling with their own deal today, Pennsylvania moderate GOP Rep. Charlie Dent told Chuck Todd on The Daily Rundown as he emerged from the closed door GOP caucus meeting.

According to Dent, dates to reopen the government and raise the debt limit are the same as a reported Senate deal – a continuing resolution to fund the government through January 15, past the holidays, and raise the debt ceiling through February 7.

The  House proposal also would include Obamacare sweeteners for Republicans, including  a two-year suspension of a controversial medical device tax. It would also strengthen income verification requirements for subsidies on the Obamacare exchanges and make some changes to the way members of Congress, cabinet members and staff use the Obamacare exchanges.
