We thought we’d share some photos of the extremely hot day in New York City. The heat wave broke records in the region yesterday for the first day of summer, and today hasn’t offered much of a reprieve.
In March, the United Nationals Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a study suggesting that “changes in some extremes”– including heat wave and excessive rainfall– stem in part from climate change.
The record heat is also a strain on the power grid, forcing utilities across the region to ask customers to conserve energy. Earlier this morning, ConEd reduced power voltage in Queens in Brooklyn due to equipment problems.
