As the season came to a devastating end for the Dallas Cowboys Sunday afternoon after a loss to the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan taunted major fan Chris Christie, tweeting at the New Jersey governor: "Do you need a hug now?"

Twitter followers of the Republican congressman quickly replied with "Troll", "Shade", and "SHOTS FIRED" to describe the dig.

Christie made headlines last week when he vigorously hugged Cowboy’s owner Jerry Jones after the Texas football team made a comeback and won a wildcard game against the Detroit Lions. It was deemed the hug "seen ‘round the world," by one New Jersey reporter.

There was controversy surrounding his trip to Dallas, too, where he watched his favorite team's playoff game in person from Jones' luxury box; some questioned whether New Jersey taxpayers were funding his trip and ticket. Christie's office later set the record straight in a statement saying the governor "attended the game last night as a guest of Jerry Jones, who provided both the ticket and transportation at no expense to New Jersey taxpayers."

It's not the first time a fellow Republican has poked fun at Christie. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker earlier this week teased the New Jersey governor on Twitter over "the hug."

Christie playfully fired back at Walker with another tweet, ".@GovWalker don’t worry… there are enough awkward hugs to go around," with a photo featuring a Scott Walker photoshopped into the original image of Christie hugging the Cowboys owner.
