Parisians use #PorteOuverte to offer shelter to those in need

Deadly attacks rock numerous sites in Paris
A series of attacks rocked Paris on Friday evening local time, killing dozens and prompting the country to declare a state of emergency.
In the wake of deadly attacks in Paris, residents of the city took to social media to open up their homes to those in need of shelter. Using the hashtag #PorteOuverte, which translates to “Open Door,” Parisians who were in their homes began offering to shelter any tourists or Parisians who needed a place of shelter in the aftermath of the deadly attacks.
