Obamacare, a year later: Where do things stand?
Saturday, Nov. 15 marks the first day of the second open enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act, and all eyes are on the remaining uninsured Americans. Just how effective was Obamacare?
Enroll America, in partnership with Civis Analytics, surveyed a large number of adults across the country in 2014 and created a statistical model based on those responses. Their findings—although estimates and not actual observations—parallel results of recent surveys from other organizations. They found the biggest drops in the uninsured rate occurred among racial minorities and young people.
The U.S. Census Bureau will not have official numbers for 2014 until next year, and until then, these estimates provide a detailed snapshot of the current landscape.
