Mark Ruffalo parties for Elizabeth Warren

Oscar-nominated actor Mark Ruffalo is lending his star power to the effort to draft Elizabeth Warren into the 2016 presidential race, co-hosting a party with pro-Warren groups in New York City Thursday night that will also feature other liberal creative types and activists.

The Artists for Warren party, to be held at the Manhattan loft of Julie Pacino (actor Al Pacino’s daughter) and screenwriter Jennifer DeLia, will feature food and drinks from chef/indie rocker Brooks Headley and music by singer Tennessee Thomas.

“Attendance is not an endorsement of Warren for President,” reads an invitation obtained by msnbc. “Rather, this is an invitation to meet as a group of artists and activists to discuss how an Elizabeth Warren run could change the conversation, build progressive power, and move us closer to our shared vision of an America where everyone has a fighting chance.”

Run Warren Run, the draft campaign started by and Democracy for America, is hosting the event, along with the super PAC Ready for Warren. Officials from the groups will be on hand, along with Eli Pariser, the former MoveOn official who went on to found Upworthy.

Other co-hosts include anti-war activist and socialite Michelle Manning Barish, musician Laura Dawn, artist Sarah Sophie Flicker, and progressive operatives Rachel Goldstein and Charles Lenchner.

The event is not billed as a fundraiser.

Ruffalo, who was nominated for an Academy Award this year for his portrayal of wrestler Dave Schultz in the drama “Foxcatcher” and may be best known for playing The Hulk in the blockbuster “Avengers” movies, is an environmental activist who has been heavily involved in the fight against fracking in New York.

The actor is a big fan of Warren’s, tweeting in support of the draft campaign and jumping on stage unexpectedly after she keynoted the liberal Netroots Nation conference last summer. “Wow, Elizabeth Warren. Wow, right?” he said at the time.
