Joe Biden to campaign in Tampa during RNC

The Obama campaign is dispatching Joe Biden to Tampa, Florida next week, just as that city  begins hosting the Republican National Convention. The Washington Post reported earlier today that "sending one of the candidates on the ballot to the rival party’s convention site is an unprecedented move."

On PoliticsNation Tuesday night, host Rev. Al Sharpton called the decision an "aggressive tactic." Democratic strategist Bob Shrum said he believes Biden will be a "huge asset" in Florida.

Shrum said Biden will focus on fighting Romney-Ryan's messaging on Medicare. RNC Chair Reince Preibus doesn't seem too worried, however; he told Fox News that Biden "isn't capable of staying on message, so it doesn't matter."

Still, the chairman had some other choice words regarding the uncommon move. "The nice thing about going first is that whatever they do to us, we can do ten times over to them," he told Buzzfeed. "I'm a big believer in: if they punch us, we put on the brass knuckles and punch back."
