Global Citizen 2015 Earth Day
The Global Poverty Project on Saturday, April 18, celebrated the 45th anniversary of Earth Day with the Global Citizen 2015 Earth Day — a day-long event at the National Mall in Washington, DC.
Hosted by Will.i.am and Soledad O’Brien, the event united artists like No Doubt, Usher, Fall Out Boy, Mary J. Blige, Train and My Morning Jacket with world leaders, finance ministers, environmental and development NGOs and industry executives in the name of one shared goal: to mobilize global citizens in the climate and environmental, poverty and development movements.
By raising awareness, those involved in the show hope to educate and inspire people around the world to take action against extreme poverty, hunger, preventable disease and climate change, and to hold governments, businesses and individuals responsible for committing to real changes.
The Global Citizen 2015 Earth Day was set to coincide with the meetings taking place with the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund.
