Despite Clayton’s brain damage, his defense attorney was unable appeal his execution. Gov. Jay Nixon also denied him clemency three hours before he was scheduled to be executed on Tuesday evening.

 

Durst, who is also facing weapons charges in Louisiana, has long been suspected in the disappearance of his late wife.
