Facebook temporarily went down for some users on Monday afternoon, its second outage in less than a week.
A message on facebook.com greeted users with "Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on it and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can." Facebook's map on Downdetector.com, which monitors disruptions, showed major outages over parts of North America.
Many users were able to access the service again after about 45 minutes.
"We're currently restoring Facebook services that people had trouble accessing earlier today due to a configuration issue. We're working to bring things back to normal for everyone. We apologize to those who have been inconvenienced," Facebook said in a statement.
Facebook suffered a similar outage on Thursday when it was down briefly in North America, Europe, Australia and India.
