Thousands of demonstrators marched through Moscow Tuesday, June 12, to protest President Vladimir Putin who was recently sworn in for his third term. Protesters reportedly chanted “Russia without Putin.” He has held one of the top two leadership positions in Russia’s government since 1999.

The anti-government protests followed raids on opposition leaders’ homes and new legislation that cracks down on unsanctioned protests, the Washington Post reported.
