A Colorado bill to allow same-sex civil unions died yesterday before it even made it to the House floor. A special legislative session held on Monday to allow for further discussion resulted in a 5-4 committee vote against moving the bill any further. A Republican filibuster had previously prevented civil unions from gaining traction in the state legislature.
Colorado voters banned gay marriage six years ago.
