Christie on Rubio: Hillary Clinton would ‘cut his heart out’

Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie escalated his feud with Marco Rubio Thursday, telling a conservative radio host that if the “inexperienced” Florida senator is the GOP nominee, Hillary Clinton would “pat him on the head and then cut his heart out.”

In an interview on Laura Ingraham’s radio show, the New Jersey governor blasted Rubio as an “unprepared” politician who “has been spoon fed every victory he’s ever had in his life.”

The New Jersey governor’s jabs come after a super PAC aiding Rubio launched ads in New Hampshire targeting Christie’s policy record and his involvement in the “Bridgegate” lane closure scandal.

One ad calls Christie “Obama’s favorite Republican governor.”

Echoing previous attacks on Rubio’s career, Christie told Ingraham that the ads are a sign of Rubio’s lack of political know-how.

“This isn’t my first rodeo and if Marco Rubio thinks by putting out a couple of negative ads on me that somehow he’s going to intimidate me, it just shows how inexperienced he is, and how unprepared he is to be our candidate against someone like Hillary Clinton,” he said. “You want someone on that stage against Hillary Clinton who has been through the wars.”

“This guy has been spoon fed every victory he’s ever had in his life,” he added. “That’s the kind of person that we want to put on the stage against Hillary Clinton? I don’t think so, she’ll pat him on the head and then cut his heart out.”

Political observers in Florida might dispute that Rubio has been “spoon-fed” his political victories. He was widely considered a long-shot in his Senate primary bid but eventually gained so much strength that he forced opponent Charlie Crist to drop out and run as an independent.
