John Boehner disagrees with Sarah Palin’s call for Obama impeachment

Updated

House Speaker John Boehner is not on board with Sarah Palin’s recent call to impeach President Obama.

When asked Wednesday by NBC News what he thought about the failed vice presidential nominee and half-term Alaska governor’s demand that Congress remove Obama from office, the Ohio Republican said, “I disagree.”

Boehner is leading a charge to sue the Obama administration over what he sees as an abuse of executive power, but the speaker has said the lawsuit is not a step toward impeachment.

Sarah Palin: Impeach Obama over border crisis

As the flood of undocumented children crossing into the U.S. escalates to a level of crisis, Republicans – like Sarah Palin – are talking impeachment for Pres. Obama.  Fmr. Gov. Ed Rendell and Angela Rye discuss.
Palin, meanwhile, has argued the move is necessary. She focused specifically Tuesday on the president’s immigration policy and “his unsecured border crisis” in an op-ed for Breitbart.

On Tuesday night, Palin made an appearance on Fox News during which she mocked Boehner’s planned lawsuit.

“You don’t bring a lawsuit to a gunfight and there’s no room for lawyers on our front lines,” she said.

“Washington is broken. If people are about the future of this country and defense of our republic, they will join this cause of articles of impeachment against Obama because enough is enough,” she added.

President Obama has dismissed the lawsuit as a “stunt,” arguing it’s merely a political ploy to distract from Republican lawmakers’ inaction on Capitol Hill. Several legal experts told msnbc this week that the chances of Boehner being successful with legal action against the president are slim to none.
