All In Agenda: Gun control advocate speaks

Updated

1. The anti-Obamacare message du jour? The GOP’s proposed legislation: “Keep your Health Plan Act.” And today, Republicans are feeling particularly emboldened after Bill Clinton said in an interview: “I personally believe, even if it takes a change in the law, the president should honor the commitment the federal government made to those people and let them keep what they got.” Joining Tuesday’s All In with Chris Hayes to discuss the GOP’s approach to destroying Obamacare are: Center for Economic & Policy Research, Dean Baker, American Enterprise Institute’s Norm Ornstein and Senior Fellow at the Manhattan Institute, Avik Roy.

2. Financial reform began with the passage of Dodd-Frank back in 2010. But according to a new paper, “An Unfinished Mission: Making Wal Street Work For Us,” we still have a long way to go. Here to talk next steps is All In veteran, Alexis Goldstein.

3. Big news out of the United States this week: racism is alive. Proof:

  • White anti-gay activist Republican, Dave Wilson, won an election in Houston last week after convincing African-American voters he was black.
  • Craig Cobb, the white supremacist who is trying to establish the all-white community, ”White Nationalist intentional community in North Dakota,”  took a DNA test and found out he is 14% black.
  • The Washington Post’s Richard Cohen wrote this today: “People with conventional view must repress a gag reflex when considering the mayor-elect of New York - a white man married to a black woman and with two biracial children.”

4. About 40 armed gun advocates showed up to a restaurant in Dallas where members of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense were meeting. An anonymous member of Moms Demand Action present at the incident in Dallas speaks out for the first time on All In. Also joining All In to talk about gun control activism are Editor-in-chief of the National MemoJoe Conason, Founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, Shannon Watts, and Executive Director of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, Leah Gunn Barrett.
