From here on until the November elections, BYOB can now stand for Bring Your Obama Brew.

The secrets to the West Wing's beer recipe—made in-house—were released Saturday on the White House blog, responding to the buzz President Obama stirred in carting bottles of the home-brew to campaign stops across the country.

"To be honest, we were surprised that the beer turned out so well since none of us had brewed beer before," White House Chef Sam Kass wrote in the blog post entitled "Ale to the Chief" (hat tip to you Radiohead fans), accompanied by a behind-the-scenes video describing the brewing process.

Kass and his fellow White House chefs perfected their brewing techniques into two separate variations—an ale and a porter—with each defining characteristic taken from the honey harvested in the First Lady's kitchen garden.

Fanfare over Obama's home-brew led to a petition calling on the White House to release the recipe. And though the petition failed to garner any more than just half of the needed 25,000 signatures, the White House inevitably gave in.

“It will be out soon!" Obama wrote in his "Ask Me Anything" response on Reddit this week. "I can tell from first hand experience, it is tasty.”
