2016 candidates cancel campaign stops due to Iowa snow

Presidential candidates are planning to hit the road again after the Christmas holiday, but winter weather in Iowa has forced some campaigns to cancel events in the all-important first caucus state.

Forecasters expect as much as 12 inches of snow in some parts of northern and central Iowa, and the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for all 99 counties in the state.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was scheduled to kick off a three day trip to the state at Happy’s Place in Dubuque but canceled the stop due to the inclement weather.

And Marco Rubio announced Monday morning that he will reschedule a planned stop in Burlington, Iowa.

Both candidates say they will press on with the rest of their scheduled campaign stops throughout the state this week.
