Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham and actress Goldie Hawn meet outside of the Morning Joe green room

When Lindsey met Goldie

09/29/11 01:21PM

I like being what basically amounts to Morning Joe's house photographer. For a whole lot of obvious reasons. I get to interact with people I grew up listening to on my stereo or watching on my TV or reading about in the paper. And I get to capture moments like this one that happened earlier today.Fleetwood Mac guitarist and vocalist Lindsey Buckingham joined the show today to discuss his new record "Seeds We Sow" and actress Goldie Hawn stopped by to discuss her new book "10 Mindful Minutes."Buckingham had been relaxing in the msnbc hallway for a bit when Hawn rounded the corner. read more

WHY CONSERVATIVES HATE WARREN BUFFETT BY E.J. DIONNE WASHINGTON POSTMaybe only a really, really rich guy can credibly make the case for why the wealthy should be asked to pay more in taxes. You can’t accuse a big capitalist of “class warfare.” That’s why the right wing despises Warren Buffett and is trying so hard to shut him up. Militant conservatives are effective because they are absolutely shameless. read more

Tales from the Way Too Early Emails

09/29/11 10:17AM

Baseball was a big story this week and thus the coinciding collapses in Boston and Atlanta were big themes inside the Way Too Early in-box.  Red Sox nation was grumbling, while our show made history, with a live Skype report from msnbc & Time Political Analyst Mark Halperin inside an airplane lavatory.  And a piece from Willie's dad, CBS News' Bill Geist, attracted some attention as well.  As always, these are my picks for the best real e-mails from real viewers as read by me to Willie at 5:59amET.  Feel free to weigh in with your faves:5.) Fmr. Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Mass., and 2012 GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney on the set of Morning Joe

Romney: "If you want to punish successful people, vote for Dems"

09/28/11 01:39PM

Today's quote comes from GOP '12 candidate and former Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Mass. Here's what he has to say:“I don’t want to reduce the taxes on the wealthiest one percent, but I don’t want to kill job creation either. And I know that if we say to those who are creating enterprises and building new businesses that we’re going to take more of their money, you’re going to kill job growth. If one’s priority is to punish highly-successful people, then vote for the Democrats. If one’s priority is to get people working again, vote for me.” read more

CRAZY NEVER WINS GOP SWEEPSTAKES  BY JOE SCARBOROUGHPOLITICODespite the crop of nutty right-wing candidates that sprout up in GOP presidential fields every four years, despite the gasps and growls that regularly rise from Manhattan cocktail parties aimed at extremists who are hijacking the Republican Party (in ways that past GOP extremists would never have dreamed of hijacking the party), despite the cries from right-wing radio hosts predicting the rise of Ronald Reagan’s ghost and the nomination of an unelectable candidate, in the end this political chatter always proves to be sound and fury read more
