Joe Scarborough: “If Bill Clinton were president, he would have never extended the Bush tax cuts – certainly not for millionaires and billionaires. He would have used that to crush the Republicans. And, you remember back in December…he wouldn’t have cut that deal. He would have said ‘I’ll give you tax cuts for everybody up to a million. Republicans would have fought for the millionaires and the billionaires, and Bill Clinton would have had it…The president should have stared down the Republicans and said ‘We’ve got 9.2 percent unemployment. read more

Top Talker: Debt Deal is Done, President Obama moves on to jobs

 After months of negotiations and political rhetoric and just hours before the midnight deadline, Congress passed legislation to raise the nation's $14.3 trillion debt ceiling. The Senate voted to approve the deal, 74 to 26, guaranteeing that the United States will not default on its obligations and allowing it to begin borrowing more money.  Speaking in the Rose Garden just after the vote, President Obama praised Congress for finally passing the compromise deal. read more
