There are new developments in the hacking scandal engulfing Rupert Murdoch’s media empire.  The full extent of the alleged cover-up at Murdoch’s now-defunct “News of the World” tabloid may soon be disclosed, as News International reportedly says it will release the details of its dealings with a law firm that allegedly has e-mails documenting the company’s wrongdoing.Meanwhile, here the U.S., the Justice Department is now launching an investigation into News Corp’s conduct .  They are looking to see if there were any efforts to hack the voicemails of nine-eleven victims.  It comes af read more

A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll suggests most Americans want congressional leaders to compromise over the debt ceiling. According to the poll, 38 percent of respondents think Congress should raise the debt ceiling.Mika Brzezinski: "Let's dive right in. And that's kind of all you need to know.The Golden Globe-winning actor dropped by the show today to talk about the new season of "Damages," among other things. We also got him talking about how Lebowski fans still shout "WALTER!" at him from time to time.I had the good fortune of photographing him before his interview in our greenroom, and he was absolutely gracious. I told him one of my favorite films was 1986's inexplicably odd and totally cool "True Stories," which stands as David Byrne's only foray into directing.
