The federal government's latest update to their dietary guidelines urges Americans to eat less sugar. The guidelines now advise Americans to limit sugar consumption to no more than 10 percent of daily calories, or 12 teaspoons a day for a 2,000 calorie diet.Jan. 8, 2016
