In the middle of harsh grilling Wednesday on the Hill, Attorney General Eric Holder had his turn to lash out at Republican Darrell Issa of California.
Holder fought tough questions on the IRS scandal, the Justice Department’s subpoena for Associated Press phone records, and the Boston bombings during the House Judiciary Committee hearing, but in this heated exchange during a back-and-forth about private emails of Obama's nominee for labor secretary, Thomas Perez, the AG seemed exasperated.
Holder began, “I’m sure there must have been a good reason why only the ‘to’ and ‘from’ parts were-”
“Yes, you didn’t want us to see the details,” Issa interrupted.
“No, that’s what you typically do. No, I’m not going to stop talking now,” Holder shot back.
Holder claimed Issa was misleading in his description of the intentions of the Justice Department, saying the Congressman's comment was “inappropriate and is too consistent with the way in which you conduct yourself as a member of Congress. It’s unacceptable, and it’s shameful.”
