While Republicans and Democrats duke over ways to bring down the deficit, the cost of the Afghanistan war continues to grow. According to the Congressional Budget Office, the U.S. government will fork over $110 billion this fiscal year to keep its troops in the region - that’s an average of more than $300 million a day. Somehow, though, Afghanistan’s looming price tag seemed to have slipped through the cracks during the entire budget debate.

Rep. James McGovern (D-MA) brought the issue front and center on Morning Joe.
