Tonight the Republican presidential field debates in Las Vegas.  It comes as the state is currently under fire for what many call "over crowding" in the January primary calendar.  Last night, Iowa Republican party officials voted January 3rd as the new date for their state caucuses, which was originally scheduled for February 6th.  The chaos all started in late September when Florida officials moved the date of their primary to January 31st.   South Carolina followed, moving its primary to January 21st and Nevada officials chose the early date of January 14th for their caucus.  New Hampshire is the only state left to set a date but granite state officials are threatening to move its traditional "first in the nation" primary to December if Nevada does not move back a bit on the January calendar. New Hampshire state leaders are encouraging candidates to boycott the Nevada caucuses.

Iowa Republican Party chairman, Matt Strawn is blaming Florida and Nevada for causing chaos in the primary calendar.   In a statement after last night's announcement, he said in part,  "I will do everything in my power on the RNC to hold Florida accountable for creating this mess, but the culpability for creating a compressed January calendar does not end there...Time remains for Nevada to respect the process, honor tradition and rectify the problem in a way that will restore order to the nomination calendar. "
