Should President Obama show he can play hardball?

Joe Scarborough: “If Bill Clinton were president, he would have never extended the Bush tax cuts – certainly not for millionaires and billionaires.

Joe Scarborough: “If Bill Clinton were president, he would have never extended the Bush tax cuts – certainly not for millionaires and billionaires. He would have used that to crush the Republicans. And, you remember back in December…he wouldn’t have cut that deal. He would have said ‘I’ll give you tax cuts for everybody up to a million. Republicans would have fought for the millionaires and the billionaires, and Bill Clinton would have had it…The president should have stared down the Republicans and said ‘We’ve got 9.2 percent unemployment. If you want to take it up to 11 percent unemployment for not giving me what Ronald Reagan got scores of times and George W. Bush got, go ahead. I’m not going to sign your debt-ceiling deal.’ The president would have won that battle with independent voters and middle America, but this is a guy who doesn’t like the tough fight.”
