Sarah Palin: Paul Ryan's budget plan a 'joke'

The congressman's new budget is a "joke" because it doesn't propose reining in wasteful government, the former governor of Alaska wrote on her Facebook page.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin thinks fellow Republican Rep. Paul Ryan's new budget plan is a "joke."

"The latest Ryan budget is not an April Fool's joke. But it really is a joke because it is still not seeing the problem; it still is not proposing reining in wasteful government overspending today, instead of speculating years out that some future Congress and White House may possibly, hopefully, eh-who-knows, take responsibility for today's budgetary selfishness and shortsightedness to do so," Palin wrote Tuesday on her Facebook page.

"This is the definition of insanity," she added.

Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee and former Republican vice presidential nominee, this week released his 2015 budget, reviving many of his former proposals. He wants to transition Medicare into a voucher program, block-grant funding for Medicaid and food stamps to hand the control to the states; and pass other sweeping reforms that would dramatically reduce the role of federal government, increase costs for seniors, and cut programs for low-income Americans, msnbc previously reported.

House Republicans are expected to vote as early as next week on the plan. But Ryan's proposal is not likely to reach a vote by Democrats in the Senate.

Palin mentioned the basketball team from Ryan's home state of Wisconsin that is currently one of the Final Four winners in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's March Madness tournament.

"You'd think one who is representing the mighty Badgers, who made it to the Final Four based on sacrificial work ethic and discipline that obviously pays off in the end...would understand that future success depends on hard work and sacrifices," Palin wrote.

Both Palin and Ryan are past Republican vice-presidential nominees: Palin in 2008 and Ryan in 2012.

She also took to Facebook earlier this year to promote her accuracy in predicting -- six years ago -- the recent crisis in Ukraine.
