Quote of the Day: Sam Stein on why NY-9 shows things not good for Obama

Sam Stein, Huffington Post: “You can read any poll numbers, and it shows the president is immensely unpopular among people who he should be popular with. I think he won the district by 55 percent in 2008. Right now his favorability in that district is under 40; that’s not a good sign for Obama. But then you have to understand this district is likely to be gone in about 14 months when redistricting happens. That Democrats have won a series of special elections prior to that…we’ve always sort of downplayed the significance for the GOP, so you have to take both sides of the coin here…Things aren’t good in terms of base enthusiasm or [with] independent voters.”
