As election results rolled in and White House called Democratic victors to issue congratulations, President Joe Biden looked up Marty Walsh and gave him a ring.
“You son of a gun, Marty! You did it!” he declared, congratulating Walsh on winning the mayoral race in Boston.
But it wasn’t the mayor-elect, it was a different Marty Walsh—a former aide to the late Sen. Edward Kennedy.

Biden wasn't the only person to mix up Martys. The wrong Marty Walsh also got congratulatory voicemails from the Democratic National Committee chairwoman, Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and vice chairman, R.T. Rybak, according to theBoston Globe.
“That’s the Bidenest Biden thing I’ve ever heard,” laughed Willie Geist.
