Maureen is momentarily overcome as she tries to collect her thoughts while talking with a father who may soon lose his kids overseas.

I was told that the first three days were the worst. I believe it. Today, the hunger pains continue and headaches plague me on and off throughout the day.

I am resolved. I think of Nadia and I think that whatever I am going through can not possibly compare to the first three days I know she cried uncontrollably for me. What kind of monster could inflict such emotional pain on their own child?
