Why teens should be reading 'The Bluest Eye'
In today’s Footnote, Melissa Harris-Perry calls out Ohio schools leader Debe Terhar for saying there should be a ban of Toni Morrison’s 1970 novel, “The Bluest Eye,” from the state’s Commom Core recommended reading list for 11th graders. Harris-Perry says the novel is exactly the type of book teens should be reading and encourages viewers to read a banned book this week.
