The July 6 'MHP' Syllabus

New conflicts in Israel, Iraq, and in the Supreme Court are all on the table Sunday in #nerdland. Those topics and more, 10am ET on msnbc. Tune in!

For once, it doesn't seem like hyperbole. Much of the world appeared to be coming undone this past week, thanks to international crises fomenting across the globe.

A new crisis in the West Bank  outrage over the murder of three Israeli teens and one Palestinian teenager have brought tensions to a head in the conflict-prone region. Then there’s Iraq, where the Iraqi army continues to clash with ISIS forces and Prime Minister Nuri al-Malaki begins jockeying for another term as Iraq’s head of state. Meanwhile, three countries in West Africa are facing the worst Ebola crisis in recorded history.

Then host Melissa Harris-Perry, back from the Essence Festival, will discuss the continued fallout from the Supreme Court’s monumental decision in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby that has led to a new court decision on contraception coverage at religiously affiliated colleges, and another fierce dissent from the three women on the high court’s bench.

Then we’ll bring you the story of how an elite prep school’s first black female student body president says she was pressured to resign after offending some of her white male constituents. Plus, we will talk with her E! correspondent Alicia Quarles and others about some of the fall’s upcoming new TV series and discuss the shifting representations of race and gender in television comedy and drama.

Be sure to read what we’ve linked to above, and watch Melissa Harris-Perry Saturday at 10am ET on msnbc! Also, don’t forget to join us on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #nerdland.
