This Saturday in #nerdland: The World Series and the economy of immigration, the U.S. mission in Syria, an in-depth look at school discipline, and a new book about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The World Series not only highlights a national American pastime but the American history of skilled immigrants. As ballparks fill and emotions run high, we celebrate the immigrant player at a time when immigration reform remains a hot topic in the most recent presidential debates.

By now you have probably seen the disturbing video of a school resource officer forcibly removing a student from her desk in a South Carolina classroom. The treatment of the student ,who according to her attorney, suffered injuries during the incident and is currently living in foster care, has raised questions about how discipline is administered in schools and the role of officers in the classroom.

Plus a look into a new book that depicts the life of the Supreme Court justice turned cultural icon, the notorious Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
