MSNBC RATED #1 ONLINE NEWS PROVIDER
FOR FEBRUARY 2002


FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- MSNBC (http://www.msnbc.com) is rated as the leader in the General News category for February, according to the latest audience data released by Jupiter Media Metrix. February’s traffic data affirms the position of MSNBC as the primary source for news on the Internet, with MSNBC capturing a significant lead in the combined Home/Work audience.

According to Jupiter Media Metrix, during the month of February, MSNBC attracted more than 20 million unique users for breaking news coverage, as well as for the latest news from the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Internal measurements recorded more than 8.8 million unique users on February 21 for news on the ladies figure skating competition. Record numbers of users came to MSNBC throughout the month to read reports on Olympic speed skating, hockey and to get real-time Olympic results. Six days during the Olympic competition are now among MSNBC’s top 20 days.
