Chris Jansing continues reporting live from Newtown, Connecticut, as the community holds memorial services for the 26 victims of Friday’s school shooting rampage. In response to the violence, President Obama has called on several cabinet members to discuss gun control solutions.

Obama and Speaker John Boehner may be nearing a fiscal cliff solution - and the New York Times reports that it could be partly due to cooled partisan rhetoric after Friday’s national tragedy.

The NRA has gone silent in the wake of the shooting.

And in case you haven’t seen it: Words of healing from the late TV icon Mr. Rogers have gone viral as a nation struggles to cope with such devastating loss.

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of ‘disaster,’ I remember my mother’s words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers - so many caring people in this world.”
