From “game on” to “game over:” Speaker Boehner’s Plan B, a proposal to avert the fiscal cliff by extending the Bush-era tax cuts for people making up to $1 million, never made it to a vote on the House floor Thursday night after it became clear that Boehner couldn’t garner enough votes from his caucus to pass it. Will it cost Boehner his speakership?

Senator John Kerry (D-Mass.) at a Senate hearing yesterday said the State Department had “clear warning signs” that security around the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was deteriorating before the attacks last September.

Plus, we’re waiting on an NRA press conference scheduled for midday Friday. The group promised “meaningful contributions” to help prevent future crises like the Newtown shooting . The group will answer questions Friday.
