The mayor of Asbury Park, N.J. seems to be on the same page with Governor Chris Christie, who has publicly criticized the MTV reality show Jersey Shore.

"It's a television show," said Mayor Ed Johnson on Jansing & Co. Tuesday. "Come on down to the Jersey Shore, come on down to Asbury Park. Meet some real Jersey people. Snooki, you're invited too."

Christie has said the reality show cast New Jersey in a negative light, pointing out that many of the main characters weren't even from New Jersey.

On Friday, there was an awkward introduction between former cast members who were in Seaside Heights to help kick off the summer tourism season and Gov. Christie.
