Fast food workers across the country are participating in what could be the biggest strike in a nearly year-long campaign for higher wages. Strikes are taking place in roughly 50 cities Thursday.

Workers earning minimum wage salaries of $7.25/hour are demanding a raise to at least $15/hour as several fast food corporations post profits. The move comes at the same time some members of Congress have unsuccessfully called for a raise to the federal minimum wage.

An attorney for the National Employment Law Project, Tsedeye Gebreselassie, tells Jansing & Co. why today's actions may have more impact than previous strikes.
